1.  First go into your control panel (located under the Apple symble on
your desktop) 
2. Select TCP/IP
   a.  Choose the following:
       Connect via : PPP
       Configure   : Using PPP Server
   b.  Fill in the following:
      Name server addresses: 205.197.48.109
                             209.136.132.80
       Leave blank the 'search domains...' field
   c.  Close the TCP/IP window
3.  Go back to your control panel and select PPP
   a.  Fill in the following:
       Your smart.net username
       Your password
       The smart.net number you dial (see http://www.smart.net/contact/accessnums.html)
   b.  At the bottom center of the pannel, select Options. 
   c.  Three cards will appear:  Redialing, Connection, and Protocol.
       Select 'Redialing'.  You may choose a redial setting other than the
       default settings if you wish.
   d.  Select the 'Connection' card.  You may use the default settings or
       change these settings to meet your needs.  Note: The default
       disconnect time setting is 10 minutes.  This setting may be
       increased or decreased or turned off.
   e.  Select the 'Protocol' card.  These settings must be changed from
       the defaults.  Note:  These will be changed again before completing
       the setup. 
   f.  Select the following options:  'Connect to command line host' and
       'Use terminal window'.  Hit 'Ok'
4.  The 'PPP' control panel should appear.  Select 'Connect'.  The modem
    should dial Smartnet.
5.  A new 'PPP Terminal' window will open.  Enter in your username when
    prompted and hit enter.  It will then prompt you for a password.  Type
    in you smartnet password and hit enter.  You will then get a menu.
    Hit '2' (without the ' marks) and hit enter.
6.  Click 'Settings' in the lower left corner of the window.
7.  A new window will appear.  Select 'Close terminal when PPP is started'
    and 'Prompt to save Connect script on close'.  Click 'Ok' and
    'Continue'
8.  Another new window will appear.  Choose location to save script and
    name script.                   Click 'Save'
    Note: You are now connected to the internet, however you will need to
    go back into the Control panel and change a few more settings.
9.  Go into the control panel and select 'PPP'.  Click 'Options' and
    choose the 'Protocol' card.
10. Select 'Use connect script' and click 'Import script'.
11. Find the script you saved and click on it.  Click 'Open'.
12. The Option - Protol window should appear with your script name.
13. Click 'Ok'.  Your 'PPP' will appear.

Now everything is set up and you're ready to connect to the internet!
