Internet Setup Assistant
A. Locate the 'Assistants' folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon. 

B. Click the 'Yes' button. 


C. Click the 'Yes' button. 


1. Click the right arrow button. 


2. Type The Connection and click the right arrow button.  


3. Click the right arrow button.

Go to http://www.smart.net/contact/accessnums.html and choose a local access number from the "Expanded Coverage Area".

Enter the new phone number in the first field of the example below.

In the second field, enter your Smartnet email address for the User ID, as shown in the example below.

You may also enter your password, or leave it blank.


When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


5. Select No and click the right arrow button. 


6. Select No and click the right arrow button. 


7. Leave the Domain Name Servers  and Domain Name boxes BLANK.

When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


8. Type in your Smartnet email Address. For example: myusername@smart.net. 
 

Your password is the same password you entered earlier. The same password gives you dialup and email access.
Your software can 'remember' your password, so you don't have to enter it every time you dial in.
You can leave the 'greater than' symbol in the last box

When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


 


9. Your email account is yourusername@pop3.smart.net

 This is not the same as your email address, which is yourusername@smart.net The POP server handles inbound email 
 
The email host is smtp.smart.net . The SMTP server handles outbound email 

When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


10. Your Newsgroup Host is news.smart.net .
         (the nntp server carries usenet newsgroups)

When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


 


11. Select the No button.

When you are done, click the right arrow button. 


 


Conclusion. Click the 'Go Ahead' button and your iMac will be ready for the Internet!
