For Windows XP / 2000

STEP 1.

1. Click on your START button 
2. Go to Control Panel and open the Network Connections
3. RIGHT-Click on your Smartnet Dialup Connection icon and choose PROPERTIES
4. Type in a Dialup Access Number from the Expanded Coverage Area.

  
STEP 2.

5. Click on the Networking Tab. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)  and choose Properties. 
6. In the Internet Protocol window, select "Server Assigned IP Address" and "Server assigned name server addresses"
7. Click OK to continue

STEP 3

8. Click on the Security Tab. Under "Interactive logon and scripting" make sure the "Run script" box is UNchecked. 
9. Click OK to save all of your changes and close any open windows.

STEP 4

10. Double-click on the Smartnet Icon on your desktop to connect to Smartnet.
(If you do not have a Smartnet shortcut, connect to the Internet like you normally do)
11. In the User Name box, type in your Smartnet email address as shown in the example to the right.
12. Click Connect
13. That's it!

If you experience any problems connecting to the new number, please contact Smartnet with the following information:

 - The telephone number you are connecting  from (i.e., your home phone number)
 - The telephone number you are connecting to (the number listed in the Connect To Window)
 - The full text of any error message(s) you received
 - Any other relevant information about your connection, such as Operating System and Modem Brand/Type/Speed
