How-To Install A WebPage Analyzer

Access log analyzers are also one of the latest trends on the Web. These analyzers allow you to show the world how popular your web pages are. But don't think of these programs as mere "counters". Counters just give you an idea of how many people are accessing your page(s). These analyzers will tell you exactly who is getting what from your pages -- you can see how many people from, say, Canada are accessing your main page and all the graphics in it!

Configuration is possible, as with most of our other programs, through an easy-to-use setup script. The web statistics are available only to Business PPP/SLIP users. To install, type web.stats.config at the prompt in your account on the WEB SERVER, answer a few questions, and your configuration file is created. Then you can run web.stats at any time and have your statistics page in a matter of seconds!

You will notice a directory inside your /home/username/www directory called "stats". This is where your statistics page(s) will be placed. You can have up to one month's worth of statistics pages. Don't worry about removing the older files -- each time you run web.stats they will be removed for you!
