Expansion Rules were discussed. These rules were decided:
- In a 15 team league, we will have 3 Divisions of 5.
- In a 16 team league, we will have 4 Divisions of 4.
- If we ever expand, we will determine divisional alignment, and
playoff participation at that time.
- If we expand by one team,
- the new owner will receive Team 15
- they will pick a home park, and receive the rookies from that park.
- the new owner will cut to 25 just like the rest of us.
- the new owner will pick in the Waiver Draft between the non-playoff
and playoff teams.
- If we expand by two teams, it's much more complicated.
- Each of the two owners will pick a home park, and receive the
rookies from that park.
- The two owners will hold a draft using the 35 players on Team 15.
A coin flip will determine who picks first, and a serpentine draft
will be held.
- When all 35 players are drafted onto the two new teams, each
of the two owners cut down to the number of players that they
really want to keep.
- During this time, the owners of the other 14 teams will send
a list of 18 protected players from their teams to the Commish.
- The two new owners will select one player from each team in
Round 1 of the expansion draft. The order of this round will
be the opposite of the Team 15 draft above. The results of
Round 1 will be that each owner has 7 new players on their team.
- Once a player is taken from an existing team, that team will
protect four more players.
- Round 2 of the Expansion Draft will occur. In this round,
an expansion team owner will select one player from any of
the existing 14 teams. Once a player is selected from a
team, that team will protect an additional four players. An
expansion team can take a player from that same existing team,
or another existing team. In any case, if a player is taken
from an existing team, that existing team protects four more
players. This happens until each expansion team has 25 players
on their roster.
