Year in Review (writeup)

Max Mortell joined the League this year as an expansion team. He selected 35 players after the CBML's 1992 draft as a starting point for his team. At the start of the CBML's 1993 season, Max cut players from his team to 13. Each of the previously existing teams protected 20 players on their rosters, and Max selected one unprotected player from each team to get his roster back to 25 players. At this point, each of the previously existing teams selected 5 more players from their rosters to get to 25 players.

The League went to two divisions of 7 teams this year. Cincinnati and Oakland won their divisions with identical 58-38 records. Detroit, New York, Chicago, and Pittsburgh filled out the playoff teams. Baltimore missed the playoffs by one game. California, the expansion team, had a very respectable 45-51 record in its first year of existence.

Detroit and Chicago upset their higher seeded opponents in the Divisional Playoffs round to meet in the World Series. In a tough six games, the third seeded Detroit team beat the fifth seeded Chicago team four games to two to win the Championship.
