The TGML is a face-to-face Strat-O-Matic League in the Baltimore, Maryland area. We play only the card game, not the computer game. We have 15 teams and a 108 game season. The 2002 season is the 13th year for the league.

ATLANTA BRAVES DEFEND TITLE

The Atlanta Braves successfully defended their World Series title by beating the Oakland A-Sox in a hard fought 7-game series. Atlanta won 2 of the first 3 to take control of the series, but the A-Sox came back fighting and won the next 2 games to put the Braves into a must-win situation. Win they did as they scored early in game 6 to coast to a win, then came from behind to win game 7, 4-3. Highlights are on the Playoffs link.

Quirks and Miracles Play Wildcard Series

The Montreal Quirks came back from a 2 games to 1 deficit to beat the Florida in one TGML Wildcard series. The Quirks won the final two games by scores of 7-4 and 10-5 to advance to the Semifinals. Highlights of the series can be seen by selecting the Playoffs link.

Colt 45s Win Tiebreaker Game Over Machine

The Houston Colt 45s and Cincinnati Machine were tied at 3 heading into the 9th inning. A 2-run shot by Ventura gave the Colts the lead, and Oswalt got out of trouble in the 9th to get a complete game 5-4 victory. Houston gains the #6 seed in the playoffs, and will face the Atlanta Braves in the Wildcard round.

Playoffs Come Into Shape

Oakland and Seattle are the top two seeds, and will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Atlanta gains the #3 seed, and will play the winner of the tiebreaker game (Cincinnati vs Houston). Montreal and Florida are the #4 and #5 seeds respectively, and will face each other in the first round of the playoffs.

Colt 45s Gain Tiebreaker Game

With the season on the line, the Houston Colt 45s won 2 of 3 at Atlanta to tie the Cincinnati Machine for the final playoff spot. The Colt 45s won the first two games each with runs in the 9th inning before falling to Atlanta in the finale. Houston and Cincinnati will now play a tiebreaker game to determine the #6 seed. The winner of that game will face Atlanta in the first round of the playoffs.
