Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CMST)
During the summers of 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999, Barry Segal of Segal's Solar Systems, Inc., a solar energy systems dealer in Laurel, Maryland, provided renewable energy materials, worksheets, and instruction for the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CMST). This is a program for gifted and talented middle school and high school students, held each summer at the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore. In June of 2000, Mr. Segal delivered an evening presentation, to CMST students, on the mathematics of potential energy, kinetic energy, and solar energy. The content of this presentation will be addded to this web page soon. Here is some of the beginning. It deals with the world's production of oil or petroleum and the shortage, especially in the United States, in the not too distant future. Guess which countries run out first. This is your chance to learn a little about Supply & Demand and Economics.

During the summer of 1999, Montgomery College, in Maryland, held a Sun Energy Fair. Barry Segal, Principal Engineer at Segal's Solar Systems, Inc. gave a presentation on Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems and how they can protect you during power outages from disasters.
