Litany of the Day of the Lord 1

Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.

God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us.

Holy Mary, pray for us.

This is the Day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.

As we recall the First Day of that Cosmic Week, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of the Creation of Light, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of Christ's Resurrection, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of Pentecost, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of the Gift of the Holy Spirit, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of the Fire of the Holy Spirit, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of the first Gospel Proclamation, Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we recall the Day of the first Baptisms, Let us rejoice and be glad.

This is the Day of the Risen Lord. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Christ-Light. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of the new and final Covenant. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of the new Creation. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Christians. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of the Church. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Faith. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Christian Hope. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Joy. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Gathering. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Worship. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Prayer. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Communion. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of joyful Celebration. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Solidarity. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Rest. Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the Day of Man. Let us rejoice and be glad.

As we await the Day of the Parousia Let us rejoice and be glad.
As we await the Day that has no Evening Let us rejoice and be glad.

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, spare us, 0 Lord.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, 0 Lord.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us, 0 Lord.

V. I will declare your Name to my brothers.
R. In the midst of the church I will praise you.

Let us pray:

O God of all our days, You have given us new birth to a living hope through the Resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. May the value of this sacred day be understood and lived ever more deeply by Your Church, that we be ever more credible in proclaiming the Gospel of salvation and ever more effective in building the civilization of love. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
